I know - it’s probably not necessary to begin with “Happy President’s Day”. I know for some it means an extra day off work. But for me, it was business as usual. At any rate, I hope you all have had a wonderful Monday.
As I mentioned in last week’s blog, the 2nd Annual Zebra Ball was held on February 9th. No final word on the total amount raised, but the first estimates indicate that approximately $40,000 was raised for the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation! This is terrific. Thanks to everyone who attended and to all those that donated items for the auctions. This year’s event was lots of fun. Dr. Sandy Goldberg of Chicago’s NBC5 News was the Emcee. Dr. Sandy is a well known breast cancer survivor and nutrition expert. I gave a speech again this year; as did Monica Warner - the Dir of Development & Research Coordinator for the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation. She presented a speech “40 years of CCF history in 5 minutes”. However, I don’t think anyone had a stopwatch going, but we’re pretty sure she ran a little over her 5 minute goal. She still gave some great information on the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.
There was tons of stuff to bid on for the silent and live auctions. I swear - if you couldn’t find something there that you liked, you must be the world’s most boring person. There was something for everyone - including trips, beauty products, chocolates & treats, blankets and paintings, and autographed memorabilia (did I mention the autographed guitar by the band “The Eagles” or the autographed movie poster for the Godfather signed by entire cast!). There were sports packages and studio tours. Everything folks! The list goes on and on. You’re probably thinking you just missed out on a great opportunity, right? (yes, you did) - but don’t worry! All indications point to another Zebra Ball next year! Hooray!
So, I’ve posted some pictures from the event in the Photos section. I’ve also updated the “What’s New” section. For now, I hope this finds you well.
All my best!
